"The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For He laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths." Psalm 24:1-2
As you pray, claim the Songhai lands, now covered in spiritual darkness, for our Lord. The earth, including Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso are truly His. Pray against the enemy strongholds in these lands.
"Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have right standing with God their Savior. They alone may enter God’s presence and worship the God of Israel." Psalm 24:3-6
Pray for those working among the Songhai, asking God to protect them both physically and spiritually so that they will be fit to serve our Holy God. Pray that their witness will be validated by lives of integrity, purity, truth and honor.
Pray that soon, the Songhai will find forgiveness and be able to enter into God’s presence, forgiven and justified.
"Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Pray with the Songhai Team that the gates and doors that have been shut for hundreds of years will be thrown open by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Ancient Gate of False Religion:
Our people have been lost in the Islamic faith and animistic rituals for hundreds of years. Pray that the strongholds of Satan will be torn down and that our people will see the falsehood of their religion and ritual.
The Ancient Door of Tradition:
To be Songhai is to be Muslim. To be Songhai is to be deeply involved with the world of evil and controlling spirits. Pray that the binding, religious traditions and customs, which have formed the Songhai culture, will be exposed for what they are. Pray for the Songhai to search for the freedom of our Savior.
The Ancient Gate of the Unknown:
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is unknown to the majority of the Songhai. There is a great need for committed Christians who will invest their lives so that the Songhai can hear, understand and respond to God’s love. Pray for workers to come and help. Be willing yourself to do what it takes to bring the Songhai to Him.
