Youth and Childen's Worker.
Over 50% of the Songhai people are 15 years of age or younger. Parents are very open to their children participating in Bible studies and other activities with westerners, as youth are considered too young to make serious decisions. This is our best chance to sow the Gospel in hearts that are yet tender. The Songhai team is looking for an adventurous, courageous, single or couple with stamina, enthusiasm, personal discipline, and a positive attitude, ready to commit two or three years of their lives to bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to a people who live in darkness. Your job will be to develop a youth program that will bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to youth that have never had a chance to respond.
Pioneer Church Planters.
First Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas has adopted the Mehanna Road and is doing extensive seed sowing in this area. The road is about 45 miles long and has 48 Songhai villages, none that have Christians or established churches. The partnership started in 2006 when FBC Hurst made its first trip to the area. They passed out evangelical cassettes, Bibles, and Jesus films; contacts were made with the chief of each village when possible. Prayer walkers also interceded in all villages. The team was welcomed into 47 out of the 48 villages, and assured of ongoing welcome and cooperation as they continue their work. The area has been covered in prayer by this church after their return to the USA. They have already planned four more trips into this area and will concentrate their efforts in the five major market towns along this road. The team scheduled for March 2007 will do Bible Storying, cassette distribution and project the Jesus Film in the market towns. If you are located in one of these market towns as a Pioneer Church Planter, you will continue to partner with FBC Hurst in church planting efforts. You can plan on major support from this Church as they have a high level of commitment to seeing this area won for Christ.
Farmers.
Put your skills and knowledge to the test. Do streams flow in the desert? Can the hungry be fed in a dry land? Can the needs of food and water be met for the Songhai People? See Him hungry and thirsty and minister to the least of these in the name of Christ. Openings are available for singles and couples with a two or three year commitment in villages from Niamey to Timbuktu. Be willing, be available… be obedient to God's call.
Medical Professionals.
Ready for a new challenge and an adventure? A village survey among the Songhai revealed that that health care concerns and food/ water needs are their greatest sources of stress. Do you want to make a difference in the lives of the Lost? Medical Professionals are needed to minister to health needs of the Songhai in small, rural villages. You will work independently and with missionaries and national nurses in community education, health care, and established programs in both bush and small clinic settings. Openings are available for singles and couples with a two or three year commitment in villages from Niamey to Timbuktu. Come and use your medical skills to bless a needy people, preparing the way for Christ.
Fishermen.
Put your skills and hobby to work among the Songhai. Come and fish along side of traditional Songhai fishermen. Learn to cast nets standing in a canoe in the Niger River. Share your biggest fishing stories along with the love of Christ. Don't let this opportunity get away!! Craftsmen & Women.
Craftsmen & women who will put your abilities and hobbies to work among the Songhai, whose average annual income is less than $250 a year per household. Using locally available materials, you can teach marketable skills, such as carpentry, welding, car repair, hand sewing, knitting, quilting, and crocheting. As you teach them a way to provide for their families, you can share how God has provided a way to be a part of His family. Sports Evangelist.
Use your interest and skills in soccer to share Christ with Songhai youth. All boys have a passion for playing soccer. Hold soccer clinics, form leagues, and participate in tournaments.
