Coming to West Africa is a life-changing experience. Many people don’t think they can go out as a missionary helper because they do not have the confidence or skills. However, God equips us all if we answer His call. He gives you the physical, emotional, and spiritual strength to survive any difficulties you may encounter. Each of us has seen God in a new way. We have been blessed beyond words because we shared the truth of Christ and showed His love to the Songhai. You, too, can be used by God to bless others by your mere presence in West Africa. So, go do something eternal for God.

Who would have imagined a church with about 60 members from Lynnville, TN, population 365, could go to Niamey, Niger on a mission trip?! It was amazing to see how God showed His great power and increased the faith of a small church. After almost a year of planning, lots of praying, and much fund raising, that’s exactly what happened. Then Pastor Danny and I were off to Africa to serve among the Songhai!

The spiritual preparation for the journey was very important for little did we know the difficulties we’d face in Africa: heat, hunger, darkness, heat, hopelessness, sickness and more heat, blood, sweat, and tears. It was indeed an amazing journey.

Most importantly we saw the love of Christ at work among a people in bondage to a religion without hope. In Jeremiah 29:11 God declares that He knows the plans He has for each one of us, to prosper us, not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future. It is our great desire for the Songhai to know this. We pray God opened eyes through our love to them this week.
