As I walked the sandy roads of the Songhai villages, I envisioned meeting Paul as he sought disciples for our Savior. The words of Jesus spoke, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these” filled my heart.

As I looked into the beautiful faces of the women, some met me with smiles and an inviting, almost longing look in their eyes for me to speak to them. I wondered as I prayed if she was the one God had sent me to tell about the One who could offer her peace, hope, and forgiveness. The picture of our Lord speaking to the woman at the well in Sychar, and His words to her, constantly ran through my mind. “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.”
